Naturally our greatest overall need is Jesus. However when asking a christian that question we realize that we already have that need filled. From the time Jesus comes into our life we encounter the same problems that everybody else has. The big difference is that now we have Jesus offering solutions. Notice I said offering solutions and not give you the solution.
The offer is made in scripture. There is no problem we can encounter that the solution cannot be found in God’s Word. It is now up to us to find it. Once we find the answer we have a decision to make. That is, do we have the faith to follow God’s word through applying that solution in every day life. (Here is where we lose a lot of simi-believers). The reason I say semi-believers is because God’s answer us in most cases just the opposite of what we have been taught, and are not convinced that if we apply God’s solution that He will come through for us. That is called, DOUBT.
So we go on about making our same mistakes over and over again and expect different results. Doing so robs our lives of blessings that God wants to shower us with. In addition to making the decision of not doing things God’s way we somehow are able to convince ourselves that God is not answering our prayers. We Sabotage our blessings and even blame God.
God instructs us to come to Him in faith believing, let our needs be presented to Him, not in doubt semi-believing. That means that when He shows the answer in His Word we are to believe enough to apply it. Doing so, we are now dependent upon Him and not our own abilities to bring about a solution even though it differs from everything else we have been taught.
God says, when we give it shall be given, pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men bring unto out feet. He will always give more than we give. So, if we don’t have enough, it must mean that we are not gaining enough.
HERE IS THE ANSWER
Whatever us our greatest need, we need more of not less. So if we need more, that is the very area we need to give more and not less.
1. If we need a friend- we look for and become a friend to someone
2. If we are not loved, we need to find someone give love to.
3. If we are not happy, we need to bring happiness to someone
4. If we need money we need to give more money.
I know that sounds different than natural thinking, because it is. It may also sound selfish that we do these things because of our own needs and we are doing for others to satisfy self. That would be looking at it wrong again. Lets think in terms of God’s leading to a ministry He wants us to build His kingdom. When God leads us to a certain ministry, He first places the need upon our own lives. We experience the problem ourselves, apply God’s solution and trust in Him to bless us. It is through our fulfilling our duties in helping others that God blesses us. If we never experienced the need hoe would we ever know what others are going through?
