There are many that struggle with financial difficulties because they get into the habit of making purchases for satisfaction of their Greeds. Then find themselves with insufficient funds for their needs. This is a trap that needs to be avoided at all cost. How?
We first need to answer the question, what causes us to do something so detrimental to our finances? To answer let’s look at the meanings of each. They are simply this.
1. Need-Essential for our daily living, vocation, financial security.
2. Greed-Non essential for living, vocation, financial security.
Now that we know the difference we need to ask the question prior to making a financial decision, DO I NEED IT OR DO I GREED IT?
Why is it that even so most know these differences they still decide to make decisions according to their Greeds. Again we ask, why?
The difference is depending upon wether we are a responsible person or irresponsible.
1. Responsible- places priority on current obligations to church, family and creditors and financial security. They take care of the necessities first then their wants.
2. Irresponsible-places priorities on self satisfaction first. Purchases are made because of the I want it, or I deserve it attitude. There is nothing wrong with getting something just because you want it you deserve it, but it becomes wrong when it is at the sacrifice of needs obligations and commitments. Purchases are made because you want something just because someone else has it and you want to keep up with the Joneses.
The downfall of that is there will always be Joneses that have something you don’t.
As you can see making purchases or financial decisions has nothing to do with how much money you have or lack of it but what you do with it.
The reasons we think in that manner is that we never learned to be content with what we have. If you do not appreciate what God has already given you, you will never be satisfied with getting what you want. Instead of filling a void it just creates a larger one.
So what is the solution?
First, always look at what you already have is a gift from God and be be thankful for it no matter how large or small.
Second, before you make your next purchase or financial decision ask the question, do I need it of greed it?
Third, If you do not Need it don’t do it. Take care of your church, Needs, family first. Then if you get what you want. If you do not then have enough, make that your next goal.
Now you have conquered the number reason for having too many bills at the end of your money.
